First Netflix trailer with Geralt, Ciri, Triss and Striegen

Netflix presented the first full trailer of his upcoming fantasy series The Witcher. In the series, Superman actor Henry Cavill plays the witch Geralt von Riva, who competes against many kinds of monsters. The trailer also hints at some scenes from the books of the author Andrzej Sapkowski, for example the fight against a string that springs from cryptas. Also creatures known from the popular games can be seen, for example an insect-like Endriaga, on whose preparation Geralt drank a witch potion.

Many characters known from books and games will appear in the series: The Sorceress and Geralt’s Beloved Yennefer of Vengerberg – played by Anya Chalotra, Geralt’s foster daughter Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon – played by Freya Allan. The sorceress Triss Merigold, played by Anna Shaffer, can also be seen briefly in the trailer. Set design, costume design and computer effects also seem to be based on the originals, such as the armor of the Nilfgaard army. Even Geralt’s dance-like fighting skills with the sword and the magic of witch signs seem to be relatively close to the originals.

Series comes 2019 with eight episodes

The Witcher series was introduced some time ago with some teasers and pictures. But there were some concerns whether Netflix would do justice to the visual style of the games and the stories in the books. At least the streaming service in the trailer seems to succeed in the first one.

Netflix wants to broadcast the Witcher series on its platform in 2019. The first season has eight episodes. It is unclear whether they will all be released together or one after the other. Netflix is happy to make all available episodes available at the same time.
