Arson in Wilmersdorf refugee home

During the night a bag burned in a refugee shelter in Wilmersdorf. The arrested person is said to be a notorious arsonist.

Police caught a notorious arsonist on Sunday morning. The 33-year-old is suspected of having set fire to a refugee shelter on Aachener Straße in Wilmersdorf. Around 4:15 a.m., fire alarms were triggered in the stairwell, whereupon a 50-year-old resident ran to the ground floor.

On the way he met a man who informed him about the fire. In the laundry room, the 50-year-old found a burning bag, which he then extinguished in the inner courtyard.

The police finally arrested the man from the stairwell. A racist motive ruled them out. (Tsp)
