Michelle Obama, one of the most famous women in the world and a personification of liberal nostalgia for a time when Donald Trump was merely a rich reality TV star, has now stepped back into the limelight with a memoir that combines the personal and political with rare candour.

The former First lady said that she would “never forgive” President Donald Trump for peddling the so-called false birther conspiracy theory with “reckless innuendos” about her husband’s birthplace, which threatened her family’s safety for “wingnuts and kooks”.

In so doing, America’s first black first lady revealed that she and her husband, Barack Obama, sought marriage counselling and struggled to get pregnant after she had suffered a miscarriage. They underwent a Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment to conceive their daughters, Malia and Sasha, who are now 20 and 17 years old, respectively.

These revelations came before Tuesday’s release of Obama’s 426-page memoir, called “Becoming”,  a reignite speculation over whether she might run for president- a move she has always ruled out.

This news understands that the conspiracy theory, which first alleged that former President Barack Obama was born outside of the United States and was therefore ineligible to serve as president, first surface in 2008. However, Trump started pushing the theory in television interviews as he floated the possibility of a presidential run.

“An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that @BarackObama’s birth certificate is a fraud”, Trump tweeted.

In addition to that, the president also injected a religious element in the conspiracy, suggesting that Obama refused to show his birth certificate because “maybe it says he’s a Muslim.”

Before leaving the White House for France on Friday, Trump responded to Obama’s book by saying that “Michelle Obama got paid a lot of money to write a book and they always insist you come up with controversy. I’ll give them some back.”

In closing, Michelle Obama further lamented that she will not forgive Trump for what he did to her family as well as the US military by not funding it properly.

“What he did to our military made this country very unsafe”, she added.
