DC Fire and EMS reported that a woman is now in a critical condition at a local hospital in DC after she was struck by a bus on Monday night.

The incident was said to have occurred on New York Avenue and North Capital Streets at approximately 8:14 p.m.

According to the WJLA News, passengers told reporters that they were traveling from New York City to the District on Best Bus, which is owned by DC trails, when they heard the impact of the collision.

Thereof, the bus stopped, passengers as well as the driver got out and found the woman lying close to the vehicle. Authorities were called to the scene.

The victim was however transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, and police are still investigating the matter.

Thus far, neither the name of the driver or the victim has been disclosed. Eyewitnesses and passengers have also requested that news entities respect their request of anonymity.
